Let The Right One In TV Show Given Pilot Order, Will Star Demian Bichir

A new series based on the acclaimed Swedish vampire movie Let the Right One In has been given a pilot order by Showwtime. It’s also been announced that the series will star Demián Bichir (Alien: Covenant, The Hateful Eight).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Let the Right One In pilot will be written by Andrew Hinderaker, who created last year’s sci-fi drama series Away and was one of the main writers on Penny Dreadful. The pilot will be directed by Seith Mann (Homeland, Blindspotting).

Let the Right One In was based on John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel, and focused on a vampire girl living in a small Swedish town. The movie was released in 2008 to huge international acclaim and was remade in the US as Let Me In by director Matt Reeves in 2011. An American TV version was previously announced in 2015, but this didn’t move beyond the development stage.

In a statement, Hinderaker gave a hint about what to expect from the show. “The series is both a love letter to the original film, and a story entirely our own,” he said. “And casting a true artist like Demián epitomizes our bold aspiration to be one of the most terrifying shows on TV, and one of the most moving.”

In related news, it was recently announced that Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto will helm the US remake of South Korean zombie hit Train to Busan. The movie will be produced by James Wan (The Conjuring, Aquaman) and written by Gary Dauberman (It, the Annabelle series).
